About

The catalyst that got us going was when, like you and hundreds of other people, we bought our meat from a local farm shop assuming the produce was local. In the main it probably was, however that wasn’t always the case. The provenance wasn’t known and provenance is important to us, we want the livestock to have time to mature, are well looked after and have a natural life.

What did we do about it?  We were lucky enough to rent a couple of acres and we bought 3 lambs and 2 weaners. Our smallholding venture has moved on, today we’re in the beautiful Marches with around  100 laying hens, 25 Ryeland ewes and 4 Oxford Sandy and Black sows. Our focus is still quality meat raised extensively with minimal inputs. For example the lamb is grass fed, no concentrates are fed. The OSB pigs live outside all year rotating round the fields as they turn them over!

We sell our lamb and pork directly to friends, family and direct to the public at a farmers market. A recent addition is charcuterie, salami and cured meats. I’ve always had an interest and produced salami for myself. Friends liked it and the demand has grown and grown.

If you’d like to know more or how you can buy our produce,  contact us by email (farm@dumblehole.co.uk), give us a call (07968 606737), check our facebook page or visit us at the following markets;

  1. Hi, we have met and spoken to you both at the Teme valley market. I’m Anna and I’m a private chef.

    On 11/2 I bought a packet of pork steaks for my client who has a broken arm and she loved it, so thank you for that. I Cooked it really lightly in small thin medallions with a white wine, mustard, wholegrain mustard, button mushroom and creme fraiche sauce. I tried a small piece myself and thought that it was delicious!

    I wondered if you could let me know what markets you go to and what days they are? I can’t always get to the Teme Valley market so it would be good to know where else you might be. I think you might have mentioned Ledbury…but there seems to be a couple of markets in Ledbury

    I’ll stop gabbling now and look forward to hearing from you

    very best wishes, Anna

    1. Hi Anna,
      Apologies for the tardy reply the last few days haven’t gone as planned, I’ll explain all when we see you next.
      I’m glad the steaks went down well, they don’t need much cooking!
      We’re at Bromyard, 1st Sunday of the month, 3 March is the next one and the Talbot you know.
      If you’re over Ludlow way you can always pop in.
      Just email (farm@dumblehole.co.uk)us if you’re planning to come this way or if you want anything in particular.

      Hopefully we’ll see you soon
      Mike
